Project Overview
This project was managed with a structured and compliance-driven approach to upgrade the loading dock operations, equipment, and safety systems. Our role included preparing and submitting all pre-construction documentation such as the Health & Safety Plan, Activity Hazard Analysis, construction and electrical plans, and the detailed project schedule. We coordinated vendor quotations, equipment submittals, and procurement to ensure materials met required performance, safety, and durability standards. The scope included removal of existing non-functional dock levelers, surface cleaning, and concrete repair of dock positions. Three new fully-automatic dock levelers were installed within existing pits, each with a 20,000 lb dynamic capacity, dimensions of 6 ft x 12 ft, and an 18” lip, supported by individual Blue Genius Gold Standard control units. Safety enhancements included OSHA-rated guard rails capable of withstanding a 10,000 lb forklift impact, new bumpers and barriers, and a smart wheel-chocking system with computerized sensing that locks out the levelers until chocks are engaged. Works also included epoxy crack repair, increasing the basement-to-dock opening height to 96” with stainless-steel U-channel protection (rated for a 10,000 lb forklift at 4 mph), and high-visibility safety painting and lighting for improved truck manoeuvring.
